Residents must clear their sidewalks within 24 hours after a snowfall. Violators will be subject to a fine in Municipal Court. COUNCIL REQUESTS YOUR HELP FOR SNOW REMOVAL: We can all help the Street Department in these ways: When two inches of snow or more are forecast, please remove vehicles from streets if possible; otherwise, please park all vehicles on the odd-numbered house side of your street; after plows have cleared snow from the middle and empty side, please move all vehicles to cleared side of the street so plows can finish snow-removal from the streets. It is also requested that if live near a fire hydrant, that you please clear around it so that the volunteer fire department will be able to access it in case of an emergency. Everyone helps, everyone benefits. Thank you.
Disposal of Paint Cans
Unused latex and/or oil based paint cans can be brought to the Public Works Department Mondays thru Fridays from 7:00am until 3:00pm and on Saturdays from 8:00am to 12:00am. Questions regarding this program should be directed to the recycling hotline at (609) 267-6889 or 461-4141, not to the Borough Office.
Street Sweeper & Mechanical Leaf Pick-Up Service
The Borough provides these services for Riverton homeowners. The street sweeper will operate on a monthly basis when conditions warrant. Leaf pick-up service will commence in October and finish at the end of December. If you want to have your leaves picked up, you are to place your leaves between the sidewalk and the curb and not in the street, to avoid clogging the gutters and preventing proper drainage. Questions regarding leaf pick-up should be directed to the Public Works Department at (856) 829-1792.
Third Wednesday of each month place brush or limbs at curb line for chipping except Oct., Nov. & Dec. (Leaf Season)
Riverton Memorial Park is a very fine asset of the Borough of Riverton. Its 12 acres include 4 baseball diamonds, a grandstand, 2 basketball courts, 4 hard-surfaced tennis courts, seesaws, swings, slides, and other playground equipment. Picnic facilities are available with tables and benches and a fine grassy area. Groups wishing to use picnic facilities must apply at the Borough Office to reserve this area.
Curb and Sidewalk Maintenance
By law, Riverton property owners are required to maintain their existing curbs and sidewalks in satisfactory condition at their own expense and therefore must make their own repairs when necessary.
