fine volunteer Fire Department. (Actually voted #1 fire
department in Burlington County this year!) At the very
first sign of a fire, call them. Don't wait until you
find you cannot put the fire out yourself. For calls

Building
Permits The construction
or alternation to existing structures or the erection
of any fence or sign requires a building permit which
is to be applied for at the Borough Hall.
Snow
Conditions Residents must clear
their sidewalks within 24 hours after a snowfall. Violators
will be subject to a fine in Municipal Court. COUNCIL
REQUESTS YOUR HELP FOR SNOW REMOVAL: We can all help
the Street Department in these ways: When two inches
of snow or more are forecast, please remove vehicles
from streets if possible; otherwise, please park all
vehicles on the odd-numbered house side of your street;
after plows have cleared snow from the middle and empty
side, please move all vehicles to cleared side of the
street so plows can finish snow-removal from the streets.
It is also requested that if live near a fire hydrant,
that you please clear around it so that the volunteer
fire department will be able to access it in case of
an emergency. Everyone helps, everyone benefits. Thank
you.
Curb
and Sidewalk Maintenance By law, Riverton
property owners are required to maintain their existing
curbs and sidewalks in satisfactory condition at their
own expense and therefore must make their own repairs
when necessary.
Regular
Trash, Rubbish and Garbage Collection Schedule From May 1st through
September 30th: two collections every week (Tuesdays
& Fridays).
From October 1st through April 30th: once a week (Tuesday).
Please note that from May 1 through September 30, bulk pick-up is on Friday. From October 1 through April 30 bulk pick-up is on Tuesday.
Rules
for Trash and Garbage Collection Trash and garbage
are to be placed in tightly covered or tied containers.
It is recommended that residents use galvanized or plastic
cans no larger than 30 gallons capacity,
or plastic trash bags. Rubbish and containers must not
exceed 50 lbs. in weight. Rubbish that is too bulky
to be placed in a proper receptacle must be disassembled,
broken or cut up as much as practical and placed a the
curb on the prescribed collection day. All such rubbish
is to be tied securely and may not exceed 3 feet in
length, or exceed 50 lbs. in weight. Waste building
materials and debris from construction work will not
be picked up. The Contractor or person doing the work
is responsible for removing such materials. Residents
are requested to have trash, rubbish and garbage at
the curb line by 6:00am on scheduled collection day.
They are not to be set out earlier than the
evening before collection. Collections are made commencing
at 6:00am and should be completed by 4:00pm except in
cases of unusual delay, breakdown, or storms of unusually
heavy intensity. Empty containers are to be removed
from the curb line by evening of the day of collection.
Special
Bulk Pick-up Schedule Bulk pick-up will
be collected by the Borough's Garbage/Trash hauler,
Waste Management of Camden, NJ as follows: From October
1 through April 30th every Tuesday. From May 1st through
September 30th every Friday. Bulk trash shall include
furniture, small appliances, home furnishings, rugs,
bundled or bagged yard debris, discarded tree limbs
and bushes, brush, grass clippings (EXCLUDING LEAVES),
and other household and yard materials.
Large appliances, such as clothes washers
and dryers, food refrigerators and freezers, dishwashers,
trash compactors and similar appliances*; automobile
and truck tires; light fixtures containing ballasts
and/or fluorescent lamps; asbestos roofing materials,
and/or other material prohibit from the landfill or
later deemed inappropriate for bulk trash by the Borough,
shall not be collected.
*PLEASE NOTE: YOU SHOULD CALL THE RIVERTON
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT AT 829-1792 TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS
FOR ONLY THE ITEMS WITH AN ASTERISK NEXT TO IT TO BE
PICKED-UP WHEN PLACED CURBSIDE. Residents are encouraged to place their bulk pick-up items curbside as opposed to bringing them to the Public Works facility.
No curb side and/or dumpster disposal of "covered electronic devices", which includes televisions, computers, monitors and portable/laptop computers. See N.J.S.A 13:1E-99, et seq., (The Electronic Waste Management Act.)
Holiday
Trash Pick-up Trash and garbage
will not be picked up on the following holidays: New
Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving
Day and Christmas Day. If your collection falls on one
of these days you are requested not to put out trash
and garbage until the next scheduled collection day.
Rules
for Collection of Recyclables. All curbside recycling
is collected on every other Wednesday. Riverton households, business and institutions are required to separate and collect recycling paper, glass, bottles, aluminum and tin cans, plastic bottles with the numbers 1 and 2 on the bottom and corrugated cardboard. Place green, brown and clear bottles and jars, along with aluminum, tin and plastic bottles with the numbers 1 and 2 on the bottom, in the yellow commingled recycling bucked provided by the Borough. These items must be rinsed clean. Jar lids and bottle caps must be removed. All paper and cardboard items are to be placed in the blue cart. Flatten large boxes so everything fits. Set the blue cart out with the metal bar facing the street. These products are collected by the Burlington County Occupational Training Center (O.T.C.) and should be placed at the curb by 6:00AM on collection day but not earlier than the evening of the preceding day.
Disposal
of Paint Cans Unused latex and/or
oil based paint cans can be brought to the Public Works
Department Mondays thru Fridays from 7:00am until 3:00pm
and on Saturdays from 8:00am to 12:00am. Questions
regarding this program should be directed to the recycling
hotline at (609) 267-6889 or 461-4141, not to the Borough
Office.
Street
Sweeper & Mechanical Leaf Pick-Up Service The Borough provides
these services for Riverton homeowners. The street sweeper
will operate on a monthly basis when conditions warrant.
Leaf pick-up service will commence in October and finish
at the end of December. If you want to have your leaves
picked up, you are to place your leaves between the
sidewalk and the curb and not in the street, to avoid
clogging the gutters and preventing proper drainage.

Chipping Third Wednesday of
each month place brush or limbs at curb line for chipping
except Oct., Nov. & Dec. (Leaf Season)
On
Street and Off Street Parking No commercial vehicles
over 10,000 pounds gross vehicle weight, or (regardless
of weight) truck trailers, stake body trucks, dump trucks
or large vans (more than 4 wheels) may be parked overnight
on a public street in a residential district. Not more
than one commercial vehicle over 10,000 pounds, and
no trucks or large vans as described above, may be parked
at any time, except while loading or unloading, in the
driveway or yard of a lot in a residential district.

Dog
Licenses* A license and registration
tag must be obtained for any dog over six months old.
These licenses must be renewed in January of each year
at the Borough Office. Proof of current rabies vaccination
through the tenth month of the licensing year is required.
The cost is $5.00 for the license and $1.00 for the
registration tag. Licenses renewed after January 31st
cost $6.00 plus $1.00 for the registration tag. An additional
$.20 for the "Pilot Clinic Fund" and $3.00
additional surcharge must be paid on all licensed issued
for non-spayed and non-neutered dogs. By law dogs are
not permitted to run loose off the owner's property.
Such dogs and any others found not licensed may be impounded
by the Animal Control Officer. *For complete

92 (Park) of the Code of the Borough for Riverton.
Cat
Licenses* A license and registration

The cost for both the license and registration tag is

Borough
Park Riverton Memorial
Park is a very fine asset of the Borough of Riverton.
Its 12 acres include 4 baseball diamonds, a grandstand,
2 basketball courts, 4 hard-surfaced tennis courts,
seesaws, swings, slides, and other playground equipment.
Picnic facilities are available with tables and benches
and a fine grassy area. Groups wishing to use picnic
facilities must apply at the Borough Office to reserve
this area.
